Early leaks suggest that Call of Duty will be following the likes of Battlefield by going back to the World War settings with its 2017 title
Seems like Battlefield’s immense success with Battlefield 1 have started a trend; a return to the World War settings. Apparently, it’s none other than rival series Call of Duty which is now eyeing the inclusion of World War settings.
YouTuber TheFamilyVideoGamers have now revealed a series of marketing concepts in their new video including the title ‘Call of Duty: WWII.’ That reflects what Activision stated during its earnings call last month that the franchise could just be going ‘back to its roots’ for 2017.
The video reveals images which the publisher claims to have obtained from close ties with developer Sledgehammer. The images show the Allied factions of World War II from what appears to be a D-Day beach landing.
This should definitely excite many of the gamers and fans out there, particularly with Call of Duty sticking to futuristic warfare gameplay in its recent games. This was further agitated by the success of Battlefied 1, which saw the franchise going to the World War settings for the first time.
We will have to wait a few weeks to know if there’s any truth in this early leak, as Activision’s scheduled Call of Duty announcement is bound to take place only by then. You can catch the video below, which also showcases the mockups for the steelbook cases for the game.
