THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games have announced that Darksiders 3 is currently in development for PS4, PC and Xbox One, and is slated for release in 2018
THQ Nordic has made it official; the third game from the popular Darksiders series is arriving next year. The game will be developed by Gunfire Games, a studio formed by the former developers of Vigil, the very developers behind the first two games of the series.
Alongside, the publishers have also aired its reveal trailer which introduces us to the protagonist of Darksiders 3, Fury. The whip-wielding Sister of the Apocalypse will make use of her scourge and sorcery to restore the balance between good and evil as a mage. The game will follow the quest of Fury to hunt down and destroy the Seven Deadly Sins that are represented in unique physical forms using her back and forth movements between the environments. Here’s what the official description reads.
The Charred Council calls upon Fury to battle from the heights of heaven down through the depths of hell in a quest to restore humanity and prove that she is the most powerful of the Horsemen
The game will be set around the same time as the events of the second game in the series that was released over five years ago. The open-world action-adventure with its hack-n-slash action gameplay will have exploration and environmental puzzles in its crux. The expansive game world will be presented as an open-ended, living, free-form planet Earth that is made a ramshackle by war and decay.
The official announcement followed the leak that surfaced earlier courtesy of Amazon who put up product page in the store without any prior announcement. The release date was mentioned to be on December 31, 2018, which probably should be only a placeholder date. A series of screenshots and concept arts were also leaked alongside. You can watch them here.
