Arc System Works, the current owners of the series, has now officially announced that Double Dragon 4 will be hitting the PC and PlayStation 4 console on January 30th
Classic game series Double Dragon is getting a new addition. Arc System Works, the current owners of the series after it acquired Double Dragon last year, has now officially announced that its new game from the series will be hitting the PC and PlayStation 4 console on January 30th.
An initial speculation made many believe that the game will be available on Steam a day following its release on PlayStation 4. But as it appears now, both the versions will be arriving on the same day, i.e. on January 30th.
As a part of the announcement, a teaser has also been revealed by the developers which takes us through the classic side-scrolling action Double Dragon has offered over the past three decades. Year 2017 will also mark the 30th anniversary of the iconic game series.
The trailer (see below) only flashes the side-scrolling actions from the previous Double Dragon games, and details or gameplay action of the upcoming Double Dragon 4 game is yet to be teased. But we can expect it to be an incredible recreation of the classic game series, which started its journey in 1987.
As with the developement, Double Dragon 4 will be having three developers from the original game on board, which includes the original game planner, designer and composer who have worked for the original arcade versions of Double Dragon. That’s more than enough to make us believe that the classic feel will be restored.
Further details of the gameplay are yet to be revealed, but we do have an info on the pricing. The Japanese price of the game is currently listed as 800 yen, which nearly equals 7 USD. The global pricing is yet to be confirmed, but it sure won’t be bothering our pockets.
