The prediction about PlayStation 5 comes from Damian Thong, who holds a good track record when it comes to predicting Sony Hardware
Sony’s next PlayStation console could be heading out sooner than expected. That’s what the words are from popular analyst Damian Thong who has got a pretty good track record when it comes to predicting Sony hardware.
According to Thong, an analyst at Macquarie Capital Securities, Sony’s next PlayStation console, presumably, the PlayStation 5, will be arriving by 2018, which is quite earlier than other predicted timelines. The prediction was featured in Wall Street Journal’s report on Sony’s recent financial earnings.
If going by his words, we can expect an official announcement of PlayStation 5 as early as at E3 this year. That’s how it always is with Sony game consoles. But there’s still no guarantee on whether that would turn into a reality. Besides, it also appears too feeble an info to believe. Sony’s latest PlayStation 4 Pro console has not even celebrated its first anniversary.
However, Thong has had a good track record of predicting the hardware from Sony. He has previously accurately predicted the PS4 Pro, as well as PS4 Slim. So chances of Sony rushing it out cannot be totally ignored either. We better wait for the final words to arrive from the officials themselves.
