Steam Gift Cards, which were available physically until now from retailers, is now being launched in digital versions ahead of the upcoming sales window
We have already learned that Steam is prepping up for its sales window events that include Halloween, Black Friday and Winter sales. Additionally, we have also got to know that the Steam will let users gift others with Steam Gift Cards digitally. Now here’s more info on that.
Steam’s introduction of the ability to send gift cards won’t be confined to the duration of sales window. It’s just well-timed to up the spirits ahead of the festive season, and it’s likely to be available throughout from now on.
Digital gift cards can be bought by users and send to others. In effect, it’s like you are giving out the money to your friends for buying games from Steam. A total of five gift cards are being made available, and those are $5, $10, $25, $50, and $100.
Those are the same denominations for which the cards were available physically at retails for all these years. But to have them digitally available is sure a blessing.
Users can send only one gift card at a time to a person. Besides, you will have to buy it using real cash, as Steam Wallet funds are kept out of gift card transactions.
Users will have to dig deeper to find out the gift page though. That said, users won’t be able to jump into the gift cards by simply searching for it. Instead, they would have to access it through the link that can only be shared via Steam to/from the people on your friend list.
Steam gift cards have been available for years at retailers, in the same denominations above, but bringing them to the digital store is something fans wanted for a while.
