Super Mario 64 is more than two decades old, but that hasn’t taken the excitement off the modders from pulling out an online multiplayer version of the game.

Super Mario 64 will live on in the hearts of everyone who has played it, no matter how aged it becomes. This pretty fact is what has now given birth to a new online multiplayer version of the game.

A downloadable version of the game is now allowing up to 24 friends to take part in what was previously a single-player adventure. The improvisation is a collective effort of modders Kaze Emanuar, Melonspeedruns and Marshivolt, and is available under the name Super Mario 64 Online.

The game is a modified version of the original game. Like the original, the online version too works in a ROM, so you will have to run it through an emulator.

The contents are unchanged, except for that each user can take up their own characters who differ in terms of their abilities. But it’s not a walk in the park to get through to the levels after having all the settings tweaked. You can check out the brief tutorial video to make sure you don’t get lost.

It’s not for the first time that an online multiplayer version of the Super Mario 64 is getting popped up. It’s just that Nintendo has been spot on in wiping them off the internet world being unauthorized versions. So be quick, and try a shot before it goes down to the deep horizon.
